Macro-Moths

On this page I am posting photographs of the macro-moths recorded in my garden.

I have been moth trapping for around 25 years now with breaks totalling nine years when at University and when I lived in urban gardens in Southampton and Romsey where the trapping was so uninspiring that I neglected to run the trap on a regular basis. Now, living on the outskirts of Romsey with the Test Valley a short distance to the west, I regularly run a Robinson MV in the garden. The garden is small and is fairly enclosed with the grounds of Romsey Abbey to the north and residential houses and gardens to the east, south and west. My catches are not high but I get a fair range of the commoner 'garden' species.
